On Tuesday 15th Dec 09 The U13's boys team challenged their parents to a basketball match. They were not expecting their parents to be so determined to win and were taken by surprise by their tatics and team spirit. The Golden Oldies came out on top with a win of 44 -40. Below are a few photos taken on the night.

The hotel where we stayed is The Ibis Hotel
http://www.booking.com/hotel/be/ibis-aalst-centrum.html?sid=88f1bc693e78e37113a7422e9e482c94
Three teams went to Belgium. A total of 48 travelled by coach. A long trip, but a laugh a minute, the miles flew by.
What a fantastic weekend - everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The hotel was great, the basketball was challenging and the company was very entertaining. Lots of late nights, fun and laughter made the weekend one we will remeber for a long time. The hotel will remeber us as the club who drank them dry.
We would reccommend the Tournament to anyone. Considering the amount of people who took part, from 32 countries, I think the organisers did a fantasic job.
We actually came away from Belgium with a runners up Trophy. The Girls team fought their way to the final against America and lost by 22 points. What more could we ask for ?

THE REBELS HAD THREE TEAMS ENTERED IN THE MANCHESTER LEAGUE AND OUT OF THE THREE TEAMS WE SECURED A SILVER MEDAL FOR THE MENS U19's AND A GOLD MEDAL FOR YEAR 7/8 TORNADOES, WHAT A RESULT! GOOD THINGS COME FROM REDDISH
THIS IS THE U19's TEAM WITH MEDALS

ON 20TH APRIL 08 WE HELD OUR FIRST ANNUAL REBELS 6k SPONSORED RUN. IT STARTED AT ROSE HILL STATION IN MARPLE TO BUXTON ROAD AND BACK AGAIN, ALONG MIDDLEWOOD WAY.
SOME MEMBERS WERE COLLECTING TO HELP PAY FOR THEIR ENTRY INTO THE EBL LEAGUE AND SOME WERE RAISING FUNDS TOWARDS THE BELGIUM TOURNAMENT IN GHENT AUG 08
IT WAS A GOOD DAY AND WAS ENJOYED BY EVERYONE. WE HAVE BEEN ASKED TO ARRANGE ANOTHER RUN SOON - WATCH THIS SPACE
THE END OF ANOTHER SEASON AT REDDISH AND GOOD RESULTS FOR THE CLUB. WE HAD 5 TEAMS IN THE FINALS, RESULTS AS BELOW
REBEL CYCLONE
THIS IS A GOOD LITTLE YEAR 5/6 TEAM THEY GIVE EVERYTHING THEY CAN IN EVERY GAME. THEY HAVE HAD SOME SETBACKS THIS SEASON BUT PERSISTANCE PAID OFF WITH A PLACE IN THE FINAL. THE MATCH WAS A TOUGH ONE THAT COULD HAVE GONE EITHER WAY.
CYCLONE CAME AWAY WITH THE SILVER MEDAL AND MINI CAVALIERS WON THE GOLD.
WELL DONE TO THE CYCLONE. JUST GETTING TO THE FINAL WAS WORTH ALL THE HARD WORK THAT YOU PUT IN. ONLY 2 TEAMS WERE GOOD ENOUGH AND YOU WAS ONE OF THEM.
REBEL BALLERS

THIS IS ANOTHER YEAR 5/6 TEAM THAT REACHED THE FINAL.
THIS WAS A VERY FRUSTRATING MATCH TO WATCH. WE DID NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED IN THE FIRST HALF, THE TEAM HAVING ONLY SCORED ONE BASKET AND THE OTHER TEAM ON 20+ POINTS. THIS WAS NOT THE BALLERS THAT WE HAD WATCHED WINNING WEEK AFTER WEEK. THE SECOND HALF WAS A DIFFERENT GAME ALTOGETHER AND WE WATCHED THE LADS PULL THE POINTS BACK ONE BY ONE UNTILL THEY WERE IN A POSITION TO WIN.
HOWEVER, ALL THE WORK THEY PUT IN COULD NOT TAKE THE GOLD AT THE END OF THE MATCH AND THEY SETTLED FOR SILVER WITH A 2 POINT DIFFERENCE.
WELL DONE TO THE BALLERS, THERE IS ALWAYS ANOTHER SEASON.
REBEL HURRICAINS

THIS IS A TEAM OF HARD WORKING YEAR 7/8 LADS
THEY HAD A MARVELOUS SEASON AND PLAYED MANY EXCITING MATCHES. THEY DESERVED THEIR PLACE IN THE FINAL AND THIS WAS YET ANOTHER NAILBITING MATCH.
IT WAS A TOUGH GAME AND EITHER TEAM COULD HAVE WON AS BASKET AFTER BASKET WAS SCORED
THE HURRICAINS CAME AWAY WITH THE SIVER, DONT BE TO DISSAPOINTED LADS GETTING TO THE FINALS IS SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF.
REBEL WARRIORS

THIS IS A YEAR 9.10 TEAM
WHAT A THRILLING MATCH TO WATCH. IT WAS FULL ON BASKETBALL FROM START TO FINISH AND BOTH TEAMS WERE WELL MATCHED.
THE MATCH ENDED ON A DRAW WITH BOTH TEAMS IN FOUL TROUBLE SO WE WENT INTO EXTRA TIME, 2 MINUTES WITH A RUNNING CLOCK.
THE FIRST FOUL GAVE US 2 FREE THROWS BUT PRESSURE PROVED TOO MUCH AND BOTH SHOTS MISSED. THE CLOCK WAS RUNNING AND ONLY SECONDS LEFT TO GO WHEN ANOTHER FOUL GAVE THE OPPOSITION 2 FREE THROWS, THE BUZZER WENT AND THEY SUNK BOTH BASKETS. WHAT A WAY TO END THE SEASON/
WELL DONE WARRIORS FOR BRINGING SILVER TO THE CLUB AND THANKS FOR SUCH AN EXCITING FINAL
REBEL BABES

THIS A TEAM OF UNDER 18'S THAT PLAYED ALL SEASON IN THE SENIOR WOMENS LEAGUE. THERE HAS ONLY BEEN TWO TEAMS THAT COULD HAVE MET IN THE FINAL AND THAT WAS THE BABES AND THE PANTHERS.
THE MATCH WAS EVERYTHING WE KNEW IT WOULD BE, FAST AND FURIOUS. AGGRESSION WAS SHOWN FROM THE START BY BOTH TEAMS AND NEITHER WAS ABOUT TO GIVE UP EASILY.
THE PANTHERS TOOK AN EARLY LEAD BUT THE BABES BATTLED HARD AND BY HALF TIME THE SCORE WAS EVEN. THE SECOND HALF WAS MUCH THE SAME AS THE FIRST . THE PANTHERS PULLED AHEAD BY ABOUT SIX POINTS BUT A COUPLE OF GREAT THREE POINTERS PUT US BACK IN THE GAME. THE PANTHERS WERE IN FOUL TROUBLE AND THE BABES TOOK FULL ADVANTAGE OF THIS TO PULL 4 POINTS CLEAR FOR THE WIN.
GOLD PLACE WINNERS
WELL DONE THE BABES (NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK)
THIS WAS THE FIRST OF THE REDDISH NATIONAL TEAMS AND WE HAD A GOOD SEASON FOR OUR FIRST ATTEMPT AT NATIONAL LEAGUE. WE WON SOME AND WE LOST SOME BUT IT WAS A NEW EXPERIENCE AND A LEARNING CURVE FOR ALL INVOLVED. FOLLOW THE LINK FOR THE TEAM AND RESULTS
AT THE END OF THE SEASON WE HAD A TEN PIN BOWLING PARTY FOR THE TEAM, TO CELEBRATE A GOOD SEASON AND TO SAY THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HARD WORK AND SUPPORT THAT THEY PUT INTO IT. BELOW IS A VIDEO THAT WAS PUT ONTO YOU TUBE. IT WAS TAKEN BY AN ORIENTAL COUPLE, AS THE TEAM CAME OUT OF THE BOWLING ALLY. THEY JUST HAPPENEND TO HAVE THEIR CAMERA HANDY. SOMEONE SHOUTED "REDDISH REBELS" BUT THEY LISTED IT ON YOU TUBE AS "BRITISH RED BULLS" - IT WAS NEARLY RIGHT. THE LADS HAD A GOOD TIME AND WERE LEAPFROGGING HOME
The Party was a huge success and everyone had a great time. I am sure all you parents will agree that the venue was a perfect choice, as the kids did not have to stay inside but were safe, secure and entertained, so the adults could party in peace.
We would like to say a big thank you to all the coaches, parents and friends that helped to make the party possible, we could not have done it without you. Your help, as always, is invaluable to us.
Photos are now on the web page.
Thank you for all the raffle prize donations, we raised £106.00 on the night, BRILLIANT.
Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
Karl and Gail

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NEW LEVEL 2 COACH
WENDY ---- 'YOUR SIMPLY THE BEST' --- 'BETTER THAN ALL THE REST'
WELL DONE FROM ALL THE REBELS.
As always, at the end of yet another season, The Rebels make it another success. All 14 teams played hard and fast throughout the season and did not give an inch to their opposotion. In our opinion, every player and team deserve a medal because they are all winners and are all worth their weight in gold.
Out of the 14 teams that played all season we secured 5, GOLD, first places, WINNERS.
Congratulations to THE MONSTARS - Senior Men
THE TEMPEST - Under 18's Girls
THE ALLSTARS - Under 19's Boys
THE BALLERS - Year 5/6 Boys
THE HURRICAINS - Year 5/6 Boys
Another season awaits and another challange for all our players, GOOD LUCK
OCTOBER 2007
THIS MONTH WE HAVE BEEN ASKED BY CLUBMARK, (SPORT ENGLAND), IF WE WOULD AGREE TO A FEATURE BEING PUBLISHED ON THEIR WEBSITE ABOUT THE SUCCESS OF OUR CLUB, SINCE REACHING CLUBMARK. VISIT THE LINK TO VIEW IT
CONGRATULATIONS
At the end of a long hard season the Rebels Basketball Club took "FIRST PLACE CHAMPION TROPHIES" for 2 of their teams.
TWISTERS YEAR 3/4
An all girls team beat the rest of the competition to take first place in the finals at Reddish Basketball Centre, all received participation medals on the presentation day, but most important was the Trophy, which was proudly received. This team has now moved up to year 5/6 and is now playing leauge games at the Ameachi Centre Manchester.
TORNADOES 5/6
This team is amazing, they played all season and did not lose a single match. An all boys team that knows what Basketball is all about. They all received participation medals on the presentation day and proudly received their well deserved Winners Trophy. This team has now moved up to year 7/8 and will be a force to be reckoned with.
CYCLONE 3/4 - CYCLONE 5/6 - HURRICAINS 5/6
All three teams played amazing all season and gave their very best every week. They all ended the season in respectable league positions and received participation medals on the presentation day. The new season will prove to be a new challange but they will meet the opposition head on every week and will never give up.
WELL DONE REBELS
REDDISH REBELS YEAR 9/10 DIVISION 2
At the end of the winter season in the Manchester league,The Reddish Rebels finished in a respectable third place and took away the bronze medal. There was a lot of unsuspected turns in the playoffs, with teams that were expected to win, being knocked out by outsiders, which just goes to show that results are never as expected. Well done to the team for all their hard work throughout the season.
REDDISH TORNADOES YEAR 7/8 DIVISION 2
At the end of the winter season in the Manchester league, The Reddish Tornadoes finished in a respectable third place and took away the bronze medal. The Tornadoes did not expect to win anything, as this was their first season in the 7/8 league (the majority of the team being only year 6). They beat their way through the playoffs and never gave up. Well done to all the team for their hard work and support throughout the season.
The Tornadoes also took the silver medal at the end of the Winter season 06 in year 5/6, at the Stockport Ball Hall in Reddish. After winning every single game, throught the season, the Tornadoes were Trounced on the grand finals day by The Trouncer Vixens, a well deserved win by the Girls.
Reddish Rebels played the final of the 9/10 league, division 3, at the Ameachi Centre at the end of the Summer Season 05. Yet again the Rebels prove what a strong team they are by taking the gold medal. It was a very good win for this team as all the team members were only year 8's at the time. Congratulations to:-
Ben Gregory, James Tweedale, Lloyd Chadwick, Adam Hatton, Andy Buckley, Chris Hill, Joe Herd, Will Mather Cosgrove, Craig Williams Josh Hardman.
The weekend of Saturday 11th June and Sunday 12th June 2005, Stockport made a double whammy in the Greater Manchester youth games, for their basketball skills.
Stockport girls and Stockport boys both won first place and came away from Bolton arena with gold medals.
The boys team of 12 included six players from The Rebels club and the girls team included 5 players from The Rebels club.
Congratulations to both teams on their success and thank you for all the support given by the coaches and parents of the players.
Photos are now on the websalbum page, thanks to Julie Joyce for sending them to us. If anyone else has photos that they would like to include, please send to................ reddish-rebels@ntlworld.com

Group photo of the gold medals winners, Stockport boys and girls, at The Greater Manchester Youth Games, Bolton arena.
A good time was had by all.
The parents match was a lot of fun and was enjoyed by both players and spectators.
The Navy team won 13 - 9, (I think) and the vast amount of fouls could not stop them. Les bit his tounge when Karl hit him on the head and a lot of the players did a lot of rolling around on the floor. Colin had hold of Ann around the waist and Wendy got knocked over on numerous occasions. The baskets were scored by both men and women, Ann scored, Sandra scored, karl scored. The scorers for the winning team were Colin , Anthony, Mike, Les, I can't remember any more, sorry if I missed anyone out.
13 parents turned up to play, I don't think anyone realised how unfit we are. We played 5 minute slots and 2 minute rest intervals in between. I don't know how the kids can run for 20 mins at a time.
I got the impression that you would like it to be a regular event, so I will make enquiries as to when the court will be free, it would be better at a later time, 7 or 8 o'clock. Watch this space for updates.
When all the sponsorship money is collected I will put the total on the Web Page.
A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR TAKING PART
On Sunday 12th March 05, a mixture of 5 x Rebels and 5 x Heatons called themselves THE BANANA SPLITS and took part in a one day tournament in the Vikings 9/10/11 league, held at the Veladrome in Manchester.
Results on the day:-
Match 1...................... Banana splits won against Westleigh Warriors
Match 2...................... Banana splits lost against Kirby Cobras
Match 3..................... Banana splits won against MBC1
Match 4..................... Banana splits won against Picton Panthers
Match 5 .................... (semi final) Banana splits lost against MBC2
After a long day the Banana Splits finished in third place overall in the 9/10/11 league - a very good result.
Kirby Cobras went on to take the first place with MBC2 taking second place.
Saturday 16th April 05
A brilliant result for the Reddish Rebels Basketball Club. At the end of the season on Grand Finals day we ended up with six teams out of eight in the league finals. Three teams ended up league winners and three teams ended up league runners up. What more could we ask for?
Year 5/6 - Tornadoes League Winners
This match was against Ice and started with both teams looking good, then Ice pulled in front and was proving to be the stronger team. The Tornadoes played hard and managed to keep the score close. Minutes to go and Ice was winning, then the Tornadoes stepped up the pace and pipped them at the post, winning the match 25 - 19.
Year 5/6 - Whirlwind League Winners
This match was against TV Rockets. The Rockets started the match at a furious pace and raced ahead with quite a few baskets in front. The Whirlwind looked to be struggling, but after a time out and a good talking to, the Real Whirlwind emerged and clawed the baskets back in the second half, taking the team to a win of 41 -32
Year 7/8 Girls - Tempest League Runners Up
This Match was against the Heaton Clippers. The Tempest have come up against the Clippers in the Finals for the last 3 or 4 seasons and have never managed to beat them. This season was no different. With only 5 players, two being out with injuries, the Tempest gave the Clippers a good game, but they ran out of steam in the second half and the Clippers went on to win the trophy yet again with a final score of 24 - 37
Year 7/8 Boys - Raptors League Runners Up
This Match was against Wizard Touncers. The Raptors had only lost one game all season and went out onto the court looking good. A few minutes into the game and the Raptors realised that they were going to find this a hard game. Both teams played well, but on the day the Wizards played best and took the winners trophy with a final score of 25 -37
Year 9/10 Boys - Razors League Winners
This Match was against TV Warriors. The Razors were missing an important player who was going to be late for the start of the match. The match started out basket for basket and was looking an even game, and then our big guy was fouled out and the Razors looked to be struggling to keep up. Just when we needed him, our missing player turned up and joined the game. The Razors stormed ahead and went on to win the match 35 -25
Year 9/10 Boys - Thunderbolts League Runners Up
This Match was against the TV Tygers. It was always going to be a hard match as both teams have been fighting against each other all season for top place. The Tygers had not lost a match all season but they must have had their doubts during this game. The Tygers shot ahead in the first half and the Thunderbolts were not looking confident, but, in their usual style, they never gave up and came back with basket after basket, bringing it to level scores in the last part of the second half. It was all to play for and the Tygers must have been worried but they took the Winners trophy with a final score of 38 -41
WELL DONE TO ALL THE REBELS............LETS LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEW SEASON AND WORK TOWARDS A RESULT AS GOOD AS THIS ONE
